Visual Awareness Impairment and Sport Courses delivered to date:
The Wheelchair Awareness In Sport Courses have been developed from an identified skills shortage of industry professionals and in the hope more Sports coaches and professionals will feel confident in engaging individuals with a disability. The Course is delivered by Rowland Clark and Roy Wild.
Achieve Potentials, in partnership with Go Kids Go, deliver approximately 30 wheelchair skills courses per year, in addition to delivering wheelchair skills, awareness, dance and sports sessions at National Disability Services exhibitions including KIDZ UP North, NAIDEX and Peterborough Mobility Roadshow.
Achieve Potentials has also delivered a range of disability awareness in Sport Courses to various individuals within the Local Education Authority and are continuously approached by organisations to aid them in raising awareness of disabilities and avoid discriminatory practice. Wheelchair Skills courses have been delivered nationally, including Ireland and Scotland. Samples of schools/educational establishments that have hosted the course include St.James’ school, Darlington; Roundhay School, Leeds; Stannah Primary School, Blackpool; David Young Academy, Leeds and Sutton Place, Hull.
Achieve Potentials delivers a highly popular weekly wheelchair dance session at a local school and currently supplies archery coaching to a local Visual Impairment organisation, Vis-ability.
