Goalball was invented after the First World War to help rehabilitate blinded soldiers. It is a 3-aside indoor team game played on a court that is 18m by 9m. It is played at Paralympic level by people who are blind or partially sighted but can be played domestically by anybody, as everyone is required to wear eyeshades. The court is tactile so players feel their way around, and the ball is audible so players track the movement by sound.
