New Age Kurling was invented as an alternative sport to boccia and has rapidly gained popularity. It is based on the game of curling, with the main difference being that it is not played on ice, but in a sports hall (on a badminton court) or any similar surface. The aim of the game is to propel the stones (which are on castors) towards a target. This can be from a sitting or standing position and with or without an assistive device.
Players can compete in singles, pairs, triples or teams of four. Points are awarded for the stones of the same colour that are closest to the Bulls Eye. There are also a number of variations of the game including ‘Croquet Kurling’ and ‘Golf Kurling’.
